Now we will talk to you about the research that we found and why bringing crosswalk saftey to atention is so important.
* Did you know that on average a pedestrian is killed in a traffic related accident every 111 minutes, and a pedestrian is severly injured about every 8 minutes?
* Also, did you know that around 5,000 pedestrians are killed EACH YEAR in traffic related deaths? Or did you know that in the US approximatly 20,000 children under the age of 14 are in crosswalks each year, THAT'S 55 PER DAY !
* Sometimes it is actually more dangerous to cross a crosswalk than crossing a street without a marked crosswalk. Well think about it. You are more alert when crossing a street when there aren't signs around saying that there is a pedestrian. Whan there's a crosswalk some people march across the crosswalk expecting people to slow down for them.
